Prof George Owuor is the Centre Leader for the African Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Agriculture and Agribusiness Management and also an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management in Egerton University. George is also the Managing Director for Egerton University Investment Company where he is in charge of a turnaround strategy. The company runs the university’s Ngongongeri Farm (over 3,000 acres of commercial agriculture and value addition) and ARC Hotel (a modern 3-star hotel in Egerton University). Professor Owuor is an Agribusiness Specialist, interested in crop and livestock value chains, rural development and land use management. He has been active in post-graduate student supervision and in interdisciplinary research projects. His main interests in research include Participatory Impact Assessment (IA) research work on crop and livestock value chains including micro-credit, agri-financing and rural agricultural enterprise development as well as land use management. Apart from successfully developing the CESAAM proposal with his core-team, Prof Owuor has many other project funding credited to him; most of which touch on agricultural value chains. Having a PhD in Agribusiness Management (Kiel University Germany) and MSc Agricultural Economics (Egerton University), CESAAM looks forward to progressive growth and timely achievement of project objectives under his stewardship.
